Freedoms in Ignauguration Speech

want to share your view privatly? email me at MYOWNOPINION@WOH.RR.COM

  • "America's possibilities are limitless, for we possess all the qualities this world without boundaries demands..."
  • "Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law
  • "It is now our generation’s task to carry on what those pioneers began.
  • We will defend our people and uphold our values through strength of arms and rule of law. —President Obama
  • We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations.
  • Thank you, God Bless you, and may He forever bless these United States of America.
Above are just a few lines from the ignauguration speech made by President Barak Obama today at the ceremony. I found some of it disturbing, some of it good, and some of it Political soapbox. First, he is right that America is limitless as far as possessing the qualities of the world. We do, but, we have boundaries. Our first ammendment gives us the freedom of speech, but, haven't we lost that with the way groups have come against anyone putting up a religeous symbol? Or when they have a confederate flag torn down because it offends them because of what it means to them and not what it means to the bearer. I myself am from the north and my wife's family comes from the south, my son hung a confederate flag up at every place he has lived and in his truck. To him it means southern pride, honoring his heritage from the southern roots. He is probably the least racist person alive. When he lived at home and he and his buddies from school and football team came to the house and stayed overnight many times, as he puts it, it looked like an after school special sprawled across the living room floor on Saturday morning. And none of his friends, black, white, brown, whatever, ever accused him of racism. Yet, the school in which he attended made him remove a ring that "might" offend someone because it bears the confederate flag. What happened to freedom? where was his freedom to explain what that symbol means to him? There is no amendment that gives a person freedom from being offended. The best quote I ever heard was " As an american, I may not agree with you or what you say, yet I will stand by you in your right to do and say it as a free american".
  • Is it just me or aren't we suppose to have a separation of church and state?
I saw this quote on one of the media outlets as a quote they picked up from a group source. Again, someone is confused! Separation of church and state was instituted at the quarrels of Madeline O'hara because she, as an athiest, did not believe in god and so wanted to liberate students from being forced to praise god in the school as god is an intrigal part of the pledge of allegiance and some teachers were teaching from their own religion, She used her right as an American and freedom of religion as her argument. I agree! This is her and every Americans freedom of Religion. Not a freedom from religion. No teacher or school or state gov't has the right to force you into their beliefs or religion. Atheism in itself is a religion. One's religion by definition is one's beliefs. An Atheist is not as they define it a non-believer, they are a believer that there is no creator. If I tell someone about a happening and they say they don't believe it, they are infact saying they believe it not to be true. This separation of church and state means the church can not force it's way into our gov't and the gov't can not force it's way into our churches.

We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations.

Do we know enough to say for sure that our environment is changing because of our lifestyle? If so, please tell me how. Records have only been kept for what equals to a few minutes in ecological terms. How old is the earth? Do you know with any degree of certainty? If you believe what the smartest people in the world are saying, then do you still believe the sun revolves around the earth? Do you still believe in blood letting? I could go on and on about climate change. If the EPA was so certain about our changing climate, then why has the head of the EPA stepped down only after finding she had hidden email accounts in which she was discussing official business? Enough about that.

As far as gays and lesbians being treated equal under the law. I have always believed that if the way you live does not affect me, then carry on. I do not believe in mistreating anyone for anything they do as so far it does not infringe upon the lives of others. So is this what the President meant? to treat them as equals? If a homosexual or lesbian couple want to be linked under the law , most have no problem. I think the only thing most have against it is, they don't want the law to say they are in the bonds of holy matrimony! In what church is this belief considered holy.?Would it not be hypocritical to take the oath of office with your hand on a christian bible and then enact law to allow holy matrimony between people who live by a life that god destroyed others for living?

I have a very open mind and am up to hearing anything you have that contradicts what I have said. Please feel free to email comments or use the comment section and we can discuss these truths that we have. I only allow comments that are constructive and well thought out and not just lashing if you can not use reason in your rebutal.
