A safe New Years Eve Party

         
 The new year is upon us and everyone is scrambling to confirm their plans for New Years Eve. We have not gone out in a long while for the occasion as it is usually expensive and crowded and a bit dangerous with the drunk driving and those who choose to spoil it for everyone else because they choose to let the alcohol control their moods and anger.
            Years ago we would host a New Year party at home and never let anyone who we did not feel was able to drive intoxicated. It was usually attended by friends and family with their children and would make it a family affair. My in-laws and parents along with siblings would usually attend and we all had a great time.Another great thing about keeping people there(bodies crash where they could find bare spot on floor) is that you have help cleaning the mess in the morning or at noon if you sleep in.
             Making it a family affair is a good idea so you know all those close to you are safe and well and can wish all good luck in the New Year. Tonight I think most of my grandchildren are meeting at one of there own houses(one is married with children) and working on some kinda crafts with the younger ones. They will play music and they live close by so that way we can check on them and be together at midnight.
             Another good idea is a karaoke party. Even if you don't have a karaoke machine it is now easy to have one with your PC. You can either get a microphone for it and buy some karaoke music to sing to or get a weekend subscription to the karaoke channel online. the advantage to this is the cost.               We also usually have some sandwiches like sloppy Joe or sandwich spread or even take the left over ham and grind it and mix with mayo and diced pickle or relish for finger sandwiches for later because before hand we will have dinner out at a good steak restaurant like Applebees. I definitely suggest Applebees for a descent steak dinner because they have a 2 for 20 special with a 7oz. steak. You can upgrade to a 9oz. and add a salad and it includes an appetizer like mozzarella sticks or onion rings or tortilla chips and salsa and choice of potato and after your drinks(coffee or soda pop) my wife and I walk out for about $36.00 + tip for two of us. not bad for an evening out to dinner.
                We will also have a traditional New Years day dinner of Sauerkraut and polish sausage to bring luck and money in the New Year. I was speaking to a friend in Italy and they eat lentils and sausage for the same good luck and wellness in the New Year. However you spend your remember to bring in the New Year safe and well and see that your friends and family do the same so everyone is around to make it through the New Years eve and to the next New Years Eve.
